We've summarised the council's fire safety requirements to help you make sure your property ticks all the boxes the first time around. These guidelines are current as of September 2024, but rules can change, so it's a good idea to check the council's website for the most up-to-date info. We'd love to work with you to ensure you stay safe and compliant!
Fire Breaks
Create a 3x4 metre dirt path all around your land's border. Make sure there are no dead ends.
Dead Stuff
Remove all dead vegetation
Grass Control
Cut all grass to under 5cm. Get rid of the clippings.
Safe Zone
Remove all dead vegetation within a 3m radius of all buildings. living trees, shrubs, maintained grass, and gardens under cultivation are permitted.
Firebreaks must be sorted out in the City of Cockburn before November 1st and maintained until April 15th every year.
